Postal Service Awards Consolidated Mailing
February 2004

Buz Prosser, President and Chief Executive Officer of Consolidated Mailing Corporation, was recognized at the annual National Postal Forum in Kansas City, MO in September.

Prosser was awarded the Mailing Industry Best in Class Award for Mail Efficiency for Consolidated's groundbreaking work in carrier-route sorting, saturation mailings and the company's commitment to customer service. Consolidated Mailing was the only Kansas City owned company to receive the award.

The Mailing Industry Best in Class Award is given by the United States Postal Service and recognizes companies that take a best-practice approach to mail to meet business objectives. This was the first year the award was given. Eight other businesses received recognition in this category.

John Wargo, Vice President of Service and Market Development for the United States Postal Service, and Anita Bizzotto, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President for the United States Postal Service presented the award. The presentation was part of a Special Awards Luncheon at the Kansas City Convention Center Ballroom.

Prosser was also recognized for Consolidated's front-end analyses performed on every mailing in order to avert problems before the mail reaches the post office's Mail Evaluation Readability Lookup Instrument (MERLIN). According to the United States Postal Service, MERLIN is a machine that verifies mail for barcode quality, address accuracy, mail makeup and mail piece characteristics.

The National Postal Forum was held at the Kansas City Convention Center from September 21-23. Other companies that received the award were: American Express Global Mail Solutions, Ancora, Bank of America, Blue Cross/Blue Shield Florida, Bernard C. Harris Publishing, Limited Brands Logistics Services, Inc., R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. and TSYS.
